Sakai moved from her native Japan to New York City in 1982, where she became a member of the Art Students League. Her work has been exhibited widely throughout Japan and California. Her paintings evoke traditional Japanese woodcuts infused with the bold expression of the California landscape.

Sheri’s passion for photography began when she shot her first roll(s) of film on a cross-country road trip in 1993. She has enjoyed a successful photographic career specializing lifestyle, and travel. In her recent work, Sheri circles back to that road trip and revisits analog film processes. She explores platinum /palladium and cyanotype printing methods and pushes boundaries with printing methods that include image transfers, oil paint, and encaustic wax.

Laurel Lee
California-based mixed media artist, painter and filmmaker Laurel Lee has been making sculptures since 2021. Inspired by Fenton hobnail glass, she uses household materials and found objects to sculpt forms that feel simultaneously organic and unnatural. The process is a mix of meticulous repetition and resignation of perfectionism, a chance to see beyond a slight perceived defect as negligible contributions proliferate into a striking whole.
With my paintings, I try to create a world that has a sense of mystery. I want the work to make people think about the strangeness of life and its brevity.
